Condor's selection has an unusual ordering that catches people out every cycle: you must book, pay for and pass the Basic Qualification ip Ab-Initio at interpersonal in Hamburg BEFORE you apply. The application is not the first step. The test is.

The ordering is the trap
In most airline selection processes you apply first and are tested later. Condor inverts that. Their own applicant FAQ states that the Basic Qualification ip Ab-Initio certificate must already be in hand at the point of application, and that candidates arrange and pay for it independently.
That inversion matters because the CAP intake runs on an annual cycle: an application deadline, a Corporate Qualification assessment some months later, and a course start the year after. If you discover the BQ requirement after the deadline, the cost is not a retake fee. It is a year.
The practical consequence is that your preparation window is the months BEFORE you apply, not the weeks after. Work backwards from the published deadline for the intake you want, and treat the BQ booking date as the real deadline.
What the psychomotor component actually asks of you
Condor names cognitive performance and psychomotor ability — the MOZARD test — as what the Basic Qualification measures. Psychomotor tasks are the ones candidates most reliably underestimate, because they do not feel like an exam. You are tracking, correcting and reacting across several inputs at once while something else demands your attention.
They are also the component that responds worst to cramming. Motor learning consolidates through spaced, repeated practice rather than through a long session the week before. If you give one part of your preparation a longer runway, make it this one.
German and English, both fluent
The CAP posting asks for fluent German and English, in writing and in speech. Candidates coming from an international training background often prepare their English and assume their German will carry them, or the reverse. Both are assessed, and the aviation English component tests listening comprehension under time pressure rather than conversational ability.
Alongside the language requirement, the posting lists Abitur or Fachhochschulreife, a height between 1.58 and 1.98 metres, and vision correctable to within ±3 dioptres. No prior flying experience is required — this is a genuine ab-initio route.
